Luo Weiren, who previously served as the Senior Vice President of TSMC and retired in July of this year, is facing accusations. It is alleged that prior to his retirement, he exploited his position of authority to demand briefings from his subordinates. Moreover, he is suspected of taking away a substantial volume of confidential information regarding advanced process technologies, including 2 - nanometer, A16, and A14 - nanometer processes. On November 25, TSMC released a statement declaring that it had initiated a lawsuit against Luo Weiren. The company claims that there is a possibility that he may have divulged trade secrets to Intel Corporation. After his retirement, Luo Weiren did not reveal his plan to join Intel. Instead, he mentioned that he intended to work at an academic institution. Given the circumstances, TSMC deems there to be a high probability that he has leaked confidential information, which has led to the legal action being taken.
