Based on reports from Taiwanese media outlets, TSMC has announced intentions to build three additional 2-nanometer semiconductor fabrication plants, aiming to keep pace with the soaring demand for AI chips. Prior to this, TSMC had already outlined plans for seven 2-nanometer plants in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung. The trio of new facilities will be situated in proximity to the Southern Taiwan Science Park, necessitating an extra investment of roughly NT$900 billion (equivalent to approximately US$28.6 billion). Additionally, construction activities have already kicked off at TSMC's A14 site in Taichung, marking another significant step in the company's expansion efforts.
