On November 17, Bloomberg reported that Peter Wennink, the CEO of ASML, weighed in on the Nexperia semiconductor controversy. He remarked that the incident would not have a short-term impact on ASML and that the most severe phase of the crisis had already passed. Earlier, the Dutch government had taken control of Nexperia semiconductor, citing "national security" concerns, and subsequently imposed a freeze on its global operations. Wingtech Technology, Nexperia's parent company, argued that the government's action was devoid of factual support and constituted an overreach driven by geopolitical biases. The Chinese Foreign Ministry voiced its opposition to the broad application of the national security concept and discriminatory measures aimed at enterprises from particular countries. Additionally, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that China welcomed the Netherlands to send representatives to China for consultations regarding the Nexperia semiconductor issue.
