On Friday, Samsung Group made an announcement stating that, as part of its sustainable development strategy, it has allocated a staggering 1.14 trillion won (roughly equivalent to $782 million) since 2013 to sponsor basic scientific research within the academic sphere. Over this time frame, a total of 91 institutions got involved, and 16,000 researchers took part in the endeavor. Among these researchers, 14,000 were graduate students specializing in engineering and science.
