In November 2025, a report from a U.S. media outlet revealed that the White House had issued a directive to federal agencies, mandating them to prevent Nvidia from exporting its cutting-edge, compact AI chip, the B30A, to China. Prior to this ban, Nvidia had already distributed samples of the B30A to several Chinese clients. Built on the advanced Blackwell architecture, this chip is specifically designed for training large language models, a crucial component in the field of artificial intelligence.

Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, had made efforts to persuade the U.S. government to ease the export restrictions, but his attempts proved futile. In response to this setback, Nvidia is now actively reworking the chip's design in hopes of finding a way to circumvent the ban and resume its supply to the Chinese market.
