On November 6, Japanese media reported that Yoshihiro Seki, who leads the Semiconductor Strategy Promotion Caucus within the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), announced on Thursday that Japan's governing party intends to allocate roughly 1 trillion yen (equivalent to 6.5 billion USD) each year. This substantial investment is earmarked to provide ongoing support for the nation's semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors. Seki highlighted that the bulk of these funds will be sourced from the standard budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which commences in April, rather than drawing from supplementary budgets allocated for the current fiscal year.
