On November 5th, news emerged that at the 8th China International Import Expo, Volkswagen Group made an announcement. Its software subsidiary, CARIAD, in collaboration with Horizon Robotics through a joint venture called Coreway, will take the lead in independently designing and developing system - on - a - chip (SoC) solutions within China.
The chip is projected to reach mass production within the next 3 to 5 years. Each unit of this chip is expected to have a computing power ranging from 500 to 700 trillion operations per second (TOPS). Han Sanchu, who serves as the CEO of CARIAD China, mentioned that this self - developed chip is the result of a strategic investment amounting to around 200 million US dollars.
