On November 4, during the Photonics Industry Summit at the 2025 Hard Tech Innovation Conference in Xi'an, Fu Yuxi, the deputy director of the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, presented for the first time the "Chasing Light" blueprint for Shaanxi Province's Photonics Technology Laboratory. With a total investment surpassing 1 billion yuan, the laboratory has brought together more than 100 member organizations. It sets an ambitious goal of overcoming over 30 critical technological bottlenecks within the next two years, with the aim of driving Shaanxi's photonics industry output value to exceed 50 billion yuan by 2027. The laboratory will employ a dual-pronged approach of "source innovation + industrial integration," centered around the national large-scale scientific facility of advanced attosecond laser infrastructure. It will pool resources from universities and research institutions, focusing on foundational research and technological advancements. Simultaneously, it will foster efficient industrial clustering through photonics industry fund clusters, shared technology platforms, and industrial conglomerates. At present, the laboratory has already laid a solid groundwork and will strive to further break through the 60-attosecond pulse width and 550 eV photon energy barriers, constructing an internationally leading attosecond beamline.
