Mark Liu, Chairman of TSMC—the world's premier provider of semiconductor foundry services—revealed during a financial conference that construction of the company's second factory in Kumamoto, Japan, has officially kicked off. This development comes after initial delays attributed to traffic congestion in the area. In response, Kumamoto Prefecture has launched two infrastructure projects aimed at mitigating the traffic impact caused by TSMC's factory, with both projects slated for completion by 2028.
