On Thursday (Eastern Time), Kathy Hochul, the Governor of New York State, made an announcement stating that the New York State Public Service Commission has given its approval to a new underground power transmission line. This two-mile-long, 345-kilovolt line is set to bridge the existing Clay substation and Micron Technology's envisioned semiconductor mega-factory located in Onondaga County. It stands as one of the pivotal infrastructure undertakings tied to Micron's ambitious $100 billion investment plan in central New York State and marks the most substantial private investment in the state's history. Over the next two decades, the project is anticipated to generate over 50,000 job opportunities, encompassing 9,000 direct positions at Micron.
