On October 16 (local time), the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) issued a statement voicing serious concerns. It warned that unless the disrupted chip supply from Nexperia is swiftly addressed, the European automotive manufacturing sector faces significant disruption. The ACEA urged relevant nations to quickly devise and implement effective solutions. The statement highlighted that on October 10 (local time), Nexperia informed car manufacturers and suppliers that, due to a series of unforeseen circumstances, it could no longer ensure the timely delivery of chips essential to the automotive supply chain. Without these critical chips, European automotive suppliers would be unable to manufacture the necessary components for carmakers, potentially leading to production shutdowns across the industry.
