Analysts from Citi have highlighted that OpenAI has set its sights on partnering with chip giants like NVIDIA, Broadcom, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to roll out the colossal computing power it has vowed to deliver. Based on calculations, activating 1 gigawatt of computing capacity would entail an outlay of roughly US$50 billion, covering computing hardware, energy infrastructure, and the construction of data centers. Consequently, to meet its deployment obligations, OpenAI would be required to channel over US$1 trillion into investments over the forthcoming five-year period, aligning with industry standards and the scale of such ambitious technological undertakings.
