Shenzhen has recently pioneered the world's first autonomous robot subway goods delivery system. A whimsical robot named "Sterna hirundo" autonomously navigated its route from Wansha Station on Shenzhen Metro Line 2 to deliver goods to several 7-Eleven stores. This innovative approach addresses the challenges of parking constraints and high costs associated with traditional ground deliveries to subway-adjacent stores, cleverly utilizing off-peak hours for unmanned operations. The initiative is a collaborative effort between Shenzhen Metro Group and Vanke, and the robot leverages advanced technologies such as AI scheduling algorithms, panoramic LiDAR, and a robust mechanical chassis. These features enable the robot to autonomously operate elevators, enter and exit platforms, recognize train arrivals, and facilitate efficient and coordinated deliveries.
