Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has declared its decision to appeal a recent antitrust ruling. The ruling aims to restore competition within the online search sector, but refrains from implementing the decade-long regulatory framework proposed by antitrust enforcement agencies. The U.S. Department of Justice and a coalition of multiple states have insisted that Google must sell its ad management platform, share search data, and cease payments designed to maintain its position as the default search engine. In response, Google's legal team emphasized that the company has already taken steps to address certain competition concerns by ending exclusive agreements with wireless carriers and smartphone manufacturers, enabling these entities to freely pre-install competing search and AI applications.
