On April 21, a blogger took to social media, alleging that Kimi, an AI offering from Yuezhi Anmian, had compromised user privacy. The blogger recounted an incident where, during their interaction with Kimi, a momentary lapse led to the accidental pasting of an incorrect image. Initially, Kimi generated unrelated engineering content, but subsequently, it produced a resume replete with genuine personal details such as name, phone number, and email. This resume was suspected to be one uploaded by another user, which the system had erroneously dispatched.
Upon discovering this, the blogger promptly reached out to Yuezhi Anmian, the entity behind Kimi's operations. The company, however, attributed the incident to an AI "hallucination"—a term used to describe instances where AI generates unexpected or incorrect outputs—and requested the blogger to remove the post. This explanation failed to satisfy both the blogger and the individual whose resume had been inadvertently shared, leading them to refuse the deletion of the content.
Furthermore, it's worth noting that in May 2025, Kimi had already come under scrutiny from the National Network and Information Security Information Notification Center for unlawfully gathering and utilizing personal information. The center's findings indicated that "the personal information actually collected bore no direct relevance to the business functions."
