In a remarkable feat, AI startup Moonshot AI (Kimi) has seen its cumulative revenue from the K2.5 large model, released less than a month ago, eclipse the total revenue for the entire year of 2025 within just 20 days. This surge in revenue can be attributed to a substantial uptick in global paid user numbers and API calls. Following a series of consecutive funding rounds that raised over $1.2 billion, Kimi's valuation has soared to between $10 and $12 billion. This achievement marks the swiftest ascent to decacorn status (a startup valued at over $10 billion) for a Chinese company, with its valuation multiplying more than 30 times in slightly over two years. Founder Yang Zhilin remarked that the funding amount has surpassed that of most initial public offerings (IPOs) and private placements by listed companies, and the company remains well-positioned to attract additional capital from the primary market.
