At its "Delivering the Future" logistics summit, Amazon showcased its latest strides in expediting delivery services. The company is harnessing the power of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and intelligent wearable tech to slash the time required to fulfill each order. Morgan Stanley projects that the broad implementation and cost efficiencies of automated warehouses could slash Amazon's expenses by US$4 billion by 2027.

During the event, Amazon unveiled its smart glasses, dubbed "Amelia." These glasses provide real-time route guidance and other pertinent information, enabling certain drivers to shave off 30 minutes of operational time during specific shifts. Presently, the product is undergoing experimental trials.

In addition, the company presented the robotic arm "Blue Jay," which is already operational in a South Carolina warehouse. This robotic arm can manage roughly 75% of product types and transitioned from concept to production in just over a year.

Amazon also revealed plans to implement an AI system at a Tennessee warehouse to preempt operational delays. With the escalating deployment of warehouse robots, it's anticipated that the U.S. will witness a reduction of 160,000 in employee hires over the forthcoming two years. Nevertheless, Amazon still intends to recruit 250,000 temporary workers for the holiday season.

On Wednesday, Amazon's stock price dipped by 1.8%, distinguishing it as the sole entity among the "Magnificent Seven" tech stocks to endure a cumulative decline.
