The second - review draft of the amendments to the Cybersecurity Law is on the verge of being presented at the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress for thorough discussion. Wang Xiang, the spokesperson for the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, revealed that the draft encompasses several significant revisions. These include expanding upon the guiding principles for cybersecurity work, incorporating new provisions to bolster the safety and development of artificial intelligence, ensuring alignment with the Civil Code and the Personal Information Protection Law to enhance personal information safeguards, and refining relevant penalty clauses. It's worth noting that the draft had already undergone its first review during the 17th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress in September 2025.
