On September 24th, CICC released a research report highlighting the ongoing evolution of AI power supply frameworks towards 800V High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems. Over the long term, Solid State Transformer (SST) technology is poised to emerge as the premier solution. This shift is driven by heightened capital expenditure forecasts from major cloud service providers and the accelerated pace of Artificial Intelligence Data Center (AIDC) construction. The SST approach has garnered considerable interest owing to its superior performance and significant cost-saving potential through technological innovations. Both domestic and international manufacturers are actively embracing SST technology, with Chinese firms mainly entering the market through three distinct avenues: traditional power equipment, AI-specific power supplies, and photovoltaic-storage-charging integration systems, each presenting unique advantages. Presently, SST products from certain companies have already been implemented in projects such as AC-DC hybrid microgrids.
