South Korea had earlier put forward a proposal to establish the world's third-largest AI hub. Given this ambition, it comes as no surprise that the nation is also placing significant emphasis on the development of AI chips. Startup Hyper Accel is gearing up to introduce a 4nm-process AI chip next year, boasting a highly competitive price point. Established in January 2023, the company had secured 61 billion South Korean won in funding by the end of the previous year. Its AI chip, the LPU, is meticulously crafted for large language models (LLMs). It leverages a unique architecture to achieve low power consumption while simultaneously maximizing memory bandwidth. This strategic design aims to tackle the bandwidth and energy consumption challenges prevalent in AI data centers.
