Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China have approved and issued the mandatory national standard "Safety Requirements for Traction Batteries for Electric Vehicles" (GB38031-2025), formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Effective from July 1, 2026, this standard imposes stringent requirements on the safety performance of traction batteries utilized in electric vehicles. It emphasizes absolute safety in terms of thermal diffusion, mandates bottom impact testing, and enforces closed-loop management for fast charging safety, thereby ensuring that the batteries meet the crucial mandate of "no fire and no explosion" across various scenarios.
