Polestar and Xingji Meizu have jointly announced the termination of their business operations under their joint venture, Polestar Technology. As a result, distribution rights will revert to Polestar. The dissolution of the joint venture involves addressing outstanding debts and transferring certain assets to facilitate Polestar's restart of sales and services in the Chinese market. This strategic adjustment aims to deepen Polestar's footprint in China while upholding its premium brand positioning. Despite these efforts, Polestar's performance in the Chinese market has been underwhelming, with sales figures of 2,048 units in 2021, 1,717 units in 2022, 1,100 units in 2023, and 1,612 units in the first half of 2024. These figures reflect a concerning trend of declining revenue and escalating losses.
