The GB38031-2025 standard, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will come into force on July 1, 2026. This new regulation enhances the safety benchmarks for traction batteries, mandating rigorous thermal diffusion testing to prevent fires and explosions. Additionally, it introduces safety assessments following bottom impact and rapid charging cycles. The scope of application is clarified as drive batteries, with heightened insulation resistance requirements and more stringent crush test standards. These measures are designed to minimize the occurrence of spontaneous combustion accidents in traction batteries, thereby safeguarding consumers' lives and property from the outset of product design.
