Daimler Truck AG has unveiled the initial prototypes of Mercedes-Benz's next-generation hydrogen fuel cell trucks, embarking on a comprehensive 14-day test run at the Simplon Pass in the Swiss canton of Valais. This extensive evaluation encompassed key components such as fuel cells, high-voltage batteries, electric drive axles, hydrogen storage solutions, and advanced thermal management systems. The two GenH2 prototypes, collectively weighing 40 tons, traversed a total distance of 6,500 kilometers and ascended 83,000 meters, navigating challenging terrains with altitudes exceeding 2,000 meters and steep inclines from 600 meters. According to reports, these groundbreaking trucks are slated for assembly at the Wörth plant, with anticipated commercial deployment within customer fleets by the end of 2026.
