Based on the most recent data from TrendForce, during the first quarter of 2026, the aggregate global sales of new energy vehicles—encompassing battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles—amounted to 3.94 million units. This marks a 2% decline compared to the same period the previous year, with these vehicles making up 19% of the total global car sales. The Chinese new energy vehicle market is now in an adjustment period. In contrast, the Western European market is displaying signs of a rebound, and there has been a notable surge in battery electric vehicle sales in Japan and South Korea.
