On May 26, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) unveiled the key priorities for automotive standardization work. These priorities encompass the following aspects: refining the planning of the automotive standards system through the formulation of a construction blueprint for the technical standards framework within the automotive industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan era; undertaking pilot studies to assess the feasibility of "advancing, transforming, and fortifying" standards; evaluating the implementation efficacy of the roadmap for compulsory national automotive standards and initiating revisions as and when necessary; bolstering the standards systems in pivotal domains such as intelligent connected vehicles, automotive chips, new energy vehicles, and low-carbon initiatives within the automotive sector; concentrating on researching standards pertaining to automotive quality reliability and solid-state batteries for vehicles; updating and enhancing standards subsystems for data governance and utilization, as well as automotive artificial intelligence; and proactively strategizing research on standards in avant-garde fields.
