On May 8, preliminary data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) revealed that from April 1 to April 30, China witnessed a retail sales volume of 1.406 million passenger vehicles, experiencing a 20% year-on-year (YoY) drop and a 15% month-on-month (MoM) decrease. The cumulative retail sales for the year so far have reached 5.628 million units, reflecting an 18% YoY decline. Concurrently, the wholesale volume from passenger vehicle manufacturers across the nation stood at 2.130 million units during the same period, showing a 3% YoY decrease and a 10% MoM drop. The cumulative wholesale volume for the year has reached 7.997 million units, down by 6% YoY.
Focusing on new energy passenger vehicles, the retail sales volume from April 1 to April 30 amounted to 883,000 units, experiencing a 5% YoY decrease but a notable 4% MoM increase. The cumulative retail sales for the year have totaled 2.792 million units, marking a 17% YoY decline. Meanwhile, the wholesale volume from new energy passenger vehicle manufacturers during the same period reached 1.22 million units, registering a 7% YoY and MoM increase. The cumulative wholesale volume for the year stands at 3.949 million units, down by just 1% YoY.
