Domestic Power Battery Installed Capacity Hits 42.0 GWh in January, Marking an 8.4% YoY Increase

On February 11th, data from the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance revealed that in January, China's cumulative production of power and energy storage batteries reached 168.0 GWh. This represented a 16.7% decline from the previous month but a significant 55.9% increase year-on-year (YoY). Regarding sales, the total sales volume of power and energy storage batteries in January stood at 148.8 GWh, experiencing a 25.4% month-on-month (MoM) decrease while achieving an impressive 85.1% YoY growth.

Breaking it down further, power battery sales reached 102.7 GWh, accounting for 69.0% of the total sales. This segment saw a 28.6% MoM decline but a robust 63.2% YoY increase. Meanwhile, energy storage battery sales amounted to 46.1 GWh, representing 31.0% of the total sales, with a 17.0% MoM decrease and a remarkable 164.0% YoY surge.

In terms of installed capacity, the installed capacity of domestic power batteries in January was recorded at 42.0 GWh, experiencing a 57.2% MoM decrease but an 8.4% YoY increase. Specifically, the installed capacity of ternary batteries was 9.4 GWh, making up 22.3% of the total installed capacity, with a 48.6% MoM decrease and a 9.6% YoY increase. On the other hand, the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries reached 32.7 GWh, accounting for 77.7% of the total installed capacity, with a 59.1% MoM decrease and an 8.1% YoY increase.
