The European Automotive Battery Company (ACC) has announced the suspension of its projects to build battery gigafactories in Italy and Germany. ACC, a joint venture established by Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, and TotalEnergies, aims to enhance the autonomy of Europe's electric vehicle supply chain. However, due to the electric vehicle market demand falling short of expectations, Stellantis recently announced a €22 billion write-down and a reduction in electrification investments. ACC CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the actual demand for battery production capacity will be significantly lower than originally planned.
