On February 10, the blogger "Sun Shaojun 09" shared a chart, originally released by Sang Zhiwei, that illustrates the sales trends of various new vehicle energy types in China from 2019 to 2025. The data unequivocally reveals substantial structural shifts within the Chinese automotive market over this six-year period. Specifically, sales of gasoline-powered vehicles have been on a steady decline, with a cumulative decrease exceeding 10 million units—a staggering drop of nearly 50%. In stark contrast, the sales of pure electric vehicles have skyrocketed, surging from 717,000 units in 2019 to an impressive 7.777 million units in 2025. Consequently, their market share has surged from a modest 3.3% to a commanding 33.2%. Additionally, the market share of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles has also witnessed a consistent upward trajectory, reaching 14.8% in 2025.
