On December 19, 2025, a notification was jointly issued by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team Coordination Center of China, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center. According to regulations and standards, including the "Provisions on the Administration of Automotive Data Security Management (Trial)", an inspection campaign was launched starting in August 2025. Adhering to the principle of voluntary enterprise participation, the compliance of automotive manufacturers' product data security was evaluated. This inspection encompassed five key criteria, one of which was the anonymous processing of facial information collected outside vehicles. The findings indicated that 43 vehicle models from nine manufacturers—Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, Beijing New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., GAC Trumpchi, BYD Company Ltd., Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd., and SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd.—met the stipulated requirements. (It should be noted that some vehicle models were not subject to the inspection criterion regarding the anonymous processing of facial information collected outside vehicles.)
