On December 15, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled the approval list for China's inaugural batch of L3-level conditionally automated driving vehicle models. The Deepal SL03, developed by Changan Automobile, and the ARCFOX Alpha S (L3 version), crafted by BAIC, emerged as the pioneering models to receive this endorsement. Changan's offering is capable of autonomous driving at speeds reaching up to 50 km/h in congested traffic scenarios along specific road segments in Chongqing. Meanwhile, BAIC's model can autonomously navigate at speeds up to 80 km/h on designated highway sections in Beijing. This milestone signifies China's formal shift of L3-level autonomous driving from the experimental phase to commercial deployment. Relevant models are poised to commence on-road trials within designated zones, fostering the high-caliber growth of the intelligent connected vehicle sector.
