At the IFA 2026 event, iRobot, a U.S.-based company, presented its groundbreaking Roomba Duo dual-robot cleaning system. This system boasts a well-coordinated operation between a primary and a secondary robot, marking a significant leap in cleaning technology. The primary robot seamlessly combines sweeping and mopping functions. It is outfitted with a large-sized roller mop, designed to deliver deep cleaning in open areas. Meanwhile, the ultra-slim secondary robot is adept at navigating through narrow spaces, ensuring no corner is left untouched.
Both robots are equipped with cutting-edge dual-line LiDAR systems and AI recognition technology. These advanced features enable them to accurately map out spaces, discern different floor types, and dynamically adjust their cleaning modes accordingly. Additionally, the primary robot is enhanced with the capability to detect small obstacles, further optimizing the cleaning process.
The robots share an automated maintenance dock, which takes care of cleaning the mops and emptying the dustbins, ensuring hassle-free maintenance for users. When operating in tandem, the primary and secondary robots achieve an impressive cleaning coverage of over 98%, setting a new standard in the industry.
The Roomba Duo system is slated for launch in North America in the fourth quarter of 2026. Following its successful debut, the system is expected to expand its reach to Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions, bringing its innovative cleaning solutions to a global audience.
