According to Nikkei Asia, Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone Ultra has run into hurdles during mass production. Insiders from the supply chain reveal that, as of late August, its daily production output was limited to just a few hundred units. Given Apple’s exacting quality standards, the new device is still a long way from being ready for large-scale distribution. The phone is slated for release on September 10, 2026, boasting a book-style inward-folding design, a 7.7-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer screen, a titanium metal frame, and will be powered by the A20 Pro chip. Its base price is anticipated to surpass 15,000 yuan. Chinese supply chains are heavily engaged, yet mainly in secondary supporting roles for key components. With initial stock expected to be under 1 million units, price surges from scalpers seem almost unavoidable.
