On April 14 (local time), Apple's App Store removed two non-compliant apps in one fell swoop. Notably, a counterfeit version of the Ledger Live app managed to bypass the review process, resulting in the loss of approximately $9.5 million in cryptocurrency for at least 50 users between April 7 and 13. The largest single theft amounted to $3.23 million. The stolen funds were traced to KuCoin addresses linked to coin-mixing services. Another app, Freecash, enticed users with the allure of "earning money by watching videos," yet it covertly gathered sensitive user data, including information on race, health, and biometric details. The developers of Freecash had previously sidestepped bans by switching accounts. At present, Apple has removed both apps from its store but has not yet issued a public statement in response.
