Now, the e-commerce behemoth is poised to make a comeback in the smartphone hardware sector, embarking on a fresh phone initiative internally dubbed 'Transformer' that is currently in the pipeline.

This ambitious project falls under the purview of the ZeroOne innovation team, helmed by ex-Microsoft executive J Allard. The focal point of this endeavor is the seamless integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile personalization, with a particular emphasis on providing fundamental access to AI capabilities. The research and development squad is deliberating over two potential paths: crafting a conventional smartphone or developing a stripped-down feature phone, with the latter possibly being introduced to the market as a contingency option.

Amazon's initial smartphone, the Fire Phone, met its demise owing to a dearth of mainstream applications and significant battery consumption issues. In contrast, the present-day smartphone market remains relatively steady, albeit with projections indicating a dip in shipments.
