According to a report released by the screen time management app Jolt Screen Time Control, American users unlock their phones an average of 47 seconds after waking up. Checking their phones in the morning has become an almost reflexive behavior. 31% of people prioritize checking their phones over talking to their family members after waking up. The global average daily screen time reaches 5 hours and 37 minutes, with some countries exceeding 7 hours. Although users often actively block apps like Instagram and YouTube, the overall screen time has not decreased. The iteration of mobile phone hardware has also exacerbated this phenomenon, as devices run faster and screens are brighter, making users more inclined to use their phones for extended periods.
