The domestic notebook brand Chuwi has once again found itself embroiled in a CPU fraud controversy. Its well-received models, the CoreBook X and CoreBook Plus, are marketed as being powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 7430U processor. However, rigorous testing has unveiled that these devices are, in fact, running on the older and less powerful Ryzen 5 5500U. The performance disparity between these two processors can reach up to a staggering 20%, accompanied by a notable price differential.
To deceive consumers, Chuwi went to great lengths by tampering with the BIOS, system information, and even hardware detection tools, all in an effort to display the CPU model as the 7430U. Yet, upon disassembly, the OPN number unequivocally confirmed the presence of the 5500U processor.
As of now, Chuwi has refrained from issuing any official statement regarding this matter. Such deceptive practices not only tarnish its brand image but also spark a widespread trust crisis among consumers, particularly concerning domestic notebooks.
