Apple is gearing up to unveil a new iteration of its Studio Display monitors in the first half of 2026, featuring a maximum refresh rate that is expected to be 90Hz, a departure from the previously speculated 120Hz. Back in November 2024, whispers began circulating that Apple was dabbling in 90Hz display technology, with potential applications across a range of products. Recently, an insider, drawing insights from code analysis of the internal test version of iOS 26, highlighted that the 90Hz refresh rate limit might be intricately linked to bandwidth allocation considerations. At present, the Studio Display monitor available in the market operates at a 60Hz refresh rate. Earlier, a yet-to-be-released monitor surfaced in a regulatory database, sparking speculations that it could be the Studio Display 2. Synthesizing various rumors, the upcoming monitor is anticipated to incorporate mini-LED backlighting technology, offer HDR display capabilities, and be powered by an A19 or A19 Pro chip. Nevertheless, given the timing of the test version's release, it's plausible that the final product specifications may have undergone refinements.
