On December 14, reports surfaced that a blogger had recently lodged a complaint online. The blogger recounted their experience of booking a room at the Hyatt Regency Ur Cove, located in Shanghai's Xuhui Binjiang area, for over 1,300 yuan per night. However, upon arrival, they were confronted with a multitude of problems: the air conditioner was incapable of regulating the temperature, the bathroom suffered from leaks, and the water pipes emitted strange noises. As a result, the blogger managed to get less than 4 hours of sleep over two consecutive nights.

The blogger highlighted that the hotel was already cognizant of these issues. Evidence of this included the presence of fans, which the hotel had prepared in advance to mitigate the air conditioning malfunction. Furthermore, a repairman confirmed that the noise problem had been ongoing for half a year. Despite this awareness, the hotel failed to notify potential guests either through the booking platform or at the front desk. Moreover, it continued to sell the problematic room, leading to suspicions of deliberate deception (xínghuài, 'allegedly') of consumers.

In response, the blogger urged the booking platform to either remove the problematic listing or clearly indicate its flaws. The hotel, however, only offered compensation in the form of complimentary meals, extended check-out times, and waived room fees. An agreement could not be reached between the two parties.

This incident caught the attention of Luo Yonghao, who reposted the Weibo (wēibó, 'Weibo post') and launched a scathing critique of Hyatt Regency Ur Cove. He accused the hotel of knowingly selling problematic rooms, attempting to placate dissatisfied customers with trivial gestures whenever disputes arose, and charging exorbitant rates exceeding a thousand yuan per night while subjecting guests to discomfort.
