According to a report from 36Kr, Google launched two AI glasses projects at the close of 2024. These projects have now advanced to the small-batch pilot production (Proof of Concept - POC) stage, with significant headway being made in both industrial design and component selection. The projects are being spearheaded by Michael Klug, who heads platform engineering at Google Labs. In terms of manufacturing partnerships, Foxconn is taking charge of production, Samsung is offering reference designs, Qualcomm is supplying the chips, and Chinese suppliers like Goertek are also on board.
The products are anticipated to incorporate a waveguide lens and camera setup. If all goes according to plan, there's a possibility of an early release as soon as the fourth quarter of 2026.
