On July 25, 2025, BYD Energy Storage and the China Classification Society Wuhan Research Institute (CCS Wuhan Institute) inked a strategic cooperation agreement in Pingshan, Shenzhen. The objective of this partnership is to jointly establish a joint laboratory dedicated to the research of battery-powered ship safety. The scope of collaboration encompasses specialized research, safety testing, and certification of new-type power batteries, technological advancements in battery power systems, the development of shore-based charging intelligent monitoring systems for battery-powered vessels, and the formulation of industry-wide technical standards. This endeavor aims to propel the advancement of battery-powered ship technology and expedite the green transformation of the maritime transportation industry.
