CCTV News reports that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States affirmed on July 2 that a portion of the left wing flap of a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-900ER aircraft detached mid-flight, presumably crashing into a residential driveway. The aircraft, which departed from Atlanta Airport and arrived safely at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, carried all 109 passengers and 6 crew members without incident. The flap, vital for managing the aircraft's lift and speed during landing, is central to the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
