Jiang Peng, the Director and Chief Engineer of the FAST Operation and Development Center, stated that the team has been conducting in-depth research for many years, progressing layer by layer from terminal feed sources and radio frequency circuit amplifiers to chips. At present, technologies such as phased arrays and 19-beam systems still depend on imports. However, it is projected that full localization within the domestic supply chain will be realized by around 2028. Jiang Peng also disclosed plans to construct 64 radio telescopes, each with a 40-meter aperture, surrounding FAST, thereby forming a comprehensive aperture array centered on FAST. Once this globally unique combination of a colossal telescope and medium-aperture telescopes is completed, FAST's resolution is expected to enhance by 200-fold, and its sensitivity is also set to increase approximately two-fold.
