Microsoft is currently in the process of crafting a novel application launch acceleration system tailored for Windows 11. This innovative approach is designed to heighten app responsiveness by purging superfluous temporary processes that occur during the startup phase. The Microsoft Edge browser stands as the trailblazer, being the first to integrate this cutting-edge technology. When the Edge browser is quietly humming in the background and a user taps on the taskbar icon, selects a shortcut from the Start menu, or clicks on a web link, the system can seamlessly channel the request directly to the already-active Edge instance. This eliminates the need to first spawn a temporary process and then relay the request, thereby streamlining the startup process and enhancing speed. Furthermore, with the KB5121003 update rolled out by Microsoft in August 2026, a low-latency configuration mechanism has been activated. This mechanism is capable of instantaneously elevating the CPU frequency to a near-maximum level for a brief period of 1 to 3 seconds upon an application's launch, providing an additional boost to expedite the app startup even further.
