Microsoft has announced that it will extend the support period for the classic application virtualization component, App-V Server, until October 9, 2029, an extension of more than three years from the originally planned end date of April 2026. This move aims to provide enterprises relying on App-V Server with more time to evaluate and migrate to new application delivery solutions. App-V Server primarily distributes Win32 applications to user devices in a streamed manner, eliminating the need for complete local installation, thereby simplifying software deployment and reducing endpoint management burdens. Microsoft has clarified that this support extension will not involve resuming feature development or introducing new features, but will only provide security patches when necessary.
