Dave Brown, a prominent figure within Amazon Web Services (AWS), is slated to step down from his role at the end of July and is expected to join Meta in the upcoming weeks. Upon joining, he will report directly to Meta's infrastructure chief and will be at the helm of spearheading the expansion of enterprise data centers. Earlier, Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, had already signaled the company's ambition to venture into the cloud business sphere. This move aligns with Meta's accelerated efforts in AI research and development, as it gathers substantial computing resources and envisions constructing a computing cluster boasting a capacity of several hundred gigawatts. This year, Meta is channeling a significant portion of its capital expenditures towards the expansion of AI data centers and has successfully onboarded several top-tier infrastructure executives. Should there be a surplus of computing power reserves in the future, Meta remains open to the possibility of providing cloud services to external clients. In the first quarter, AWS reported a revenue figure of $37.6 billion, marking a 28% increase compared to the same period last year.
