The research report issued by CSC highlights that the State Council has recently unveiled the 'Action Plan for Carbon Peak during the 15th Five-Year Plan,' delineating specific objectives and implementation strategies for carbon peak initiatives throughout the 15th Five-Year Plan era. This plan zeroes in on three primary areas: the industrialization of green and low-carbon processes, the restructuring and refinement of the energy sector, and the green and low-carbon overhaul of pivotal industries. Within the realm of new energy, the plan underscores the importance of harmonizing the development of diverse energy sources, including wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear power. It advocates for an uptick in new energy exploitation and fortifies the power system's ability to integrate renewable energy sources. Concurrently, the plan advocates for the ongoing refinement of oil and gas consumption patterns, encourages the replacement of oil-based chemicals, delves into the utilization of green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol within the chemical sector, and steadily promotes the substitution of oil for electricity and heat in industrial applications, thereby fostering a greener transformation of the energy consumption landscape.
