As the demand for computing power continues to escalate, the limitations of power supply from wind and solar energy have become increasingly evident. The integration of small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) with AI computing centers is poised to become a novel solution for achieving a zero-carbon, stable power supply in data centers. Presently, efforts to propel the development of SMRs are gathering momentum both domestically and globally. At a recent seminar focused on the advanced nuclear energy industry, a multitude of energy and nuclear experts engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the development trajectory of SMRs in supporting AI computing centers. It has been reported that the relevant energy authorities recently held a meeting specifically to deliberate on the development of SMRs and urged for an expedited process of research, development, and demonstration.
