On July 3, QTS, a data center operator now under the auspices of Blackstone Group, made public its decision to scrap plans for constructing the 'Digital Gateway' data center in Virginia, along with retracting all pertinent application paperwork. This project, which had been in the pipeline for years and had successfully navigated through various regulatory approvals, ultimately secured the green light from the local board of supervisors. However, its progress was hampered by persistent local opposition and ensuing legal battles. Confronted with unfavorable judicial decisions and regulatory impediments, QTS came to the conclusion that persisting with the legal dispute was no longer tenable or beneficial.
